Zimbabwe could grow 300 million kg

Zimbabwe’s Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board (TIMB) says the country’s tobacco production could grow to 300 million kg during the next few years if the industry maintains its current momentum, according to a Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation report.

Speaking at a prize giving ceremony to honour top tobacco growers, TIMB chairperson, Monica Chinamasa, applauded local farmers for increasing tobacco production.

Tobacco production has been on the rebound, having risen from 45 million kg in 2008 to 145 million kg this year.
