Imperial Tobacco, through its Altadis Foundation, is supporting a number of projects in Africa, including a program aimed at tackling the spread of malaria.
‘The Foundation’s activities include a rebuilding project in the Ivory Coast, which will benefit 40,000 people, as well as ongoing support for the National Programme to Fight Malaria, which educates people on how to avoid exposure and distributes mosquito nets,’ said a note posted on Imperial’s website.
“It is important for us to help local communities in the Ivory Coast, particularly in the Séguéla region where more than 70 percent of the people are exposed to malaria,” Jerome Brun, general manager of Imperial’s West Africa cluster, was quoted as saying.
“This provides tangible benefits such as better school attendance and the lowering of financial burdens on families, resulting in social and economic development in the country.”
