No smoking in Kuwait’s malls

 No smoking in Kuwait’s malls

A ban on tobacco smoking will be implemented this week inside Kuwait’s malls, according to a story in The Kuwait Times.

The Environment Public Authority (EPA) said that smoking in enclosed public places would be punished with a fine ranging from KD50 to KD100.

The same penalty will apply also to those who vape electronic cigarettes inside restaurants or cafés.

Meanwhile, an owner of a restaurant or café who allows smoking [or, presumably, vaping] inside his or her facility risks having to pay up to KD5,000.

A source at the EPA was quoted as saying that an office for environmental police had been established in malls around Kuwait to monitor the situation and make sure that the anti-smoking [and anti-vaping] law was applied.

Mall administrations are allowed to set up special cabins for smokers.
