Estonia to curb tobacco displays

The Estonian government is planning on Thursday to table draft legislation that would increase significantly tobacco-product sales restrictions, according to a baltic-course.com story.

The draft legislation, which has been put forward by the Health and Labor Minister Jevgeni Ossinovski, would restrict the display of tobacco products at points of sale, though not in

specialized retail stores, on ships sailing in international waters, or in stores located in airports and ports.

The bill seeks also to reduce the accessibility and use of electronic cigarettes.

It would ban the use of electronic cigarettes wherever smoking is banned, such as in restaurants and stores.

Under the new legislation, it would not be possible to buy tobacco products or electronic cigarettes online or from a catalogue.
