Philip Morris International (PMI) may introduce its iQOS heat-not-burn device in the Philippines, reports in The Philippine Star.
During a visit to the Philip Morris Fortune Tobacco Corp. plant, Marc Firestone, PMI’s president for external affairs and general counsel, said the company is studying the market and the regulatory environment.
According to firestone, PMI launched iQOS in test markets in Italy and Japan four years ago. The product is currently sold in 43 countries. Some 6 million people had switched from cigarettes to heat-not-burn products, he was quoted as saying.
He assured Filipino farmers that PMFTC would continue to buy leaf from them as the alternative cigarette products would still use tobacco.
