E-cig documentary debuts

A Billion Lives debuted May 11 in Wellington, New Zealand, as part of the Doc Edge Festival.

Directed and narrated by filmmaker Aaron Biebert, the film documents vapor products’ potential to save lives and reduce smoking-related harm.

The documentary also details forces at play that oppose vaping and spread misinformation to discourage their use, a pattern that is depicted in the film from 13 countries on four continents.

Following the premiere, the New Zealand Taxpayers’ Union called on the government to legalize nicotine-containing vapor products to promote “better health outcomes,” rather than continue to be “more interested in preserving tax revenue from traditional cigarettes.”
