The Philippines’ presumptive president, Rodrigo Duterte, who ran on a federalist platform, said on Sunday that he was going to implement a liquor ban and no-smoking policy throughout the country, according to a GMA News story.
Duterte, who is vociferously anti-crime, said he would ban smoking in enclosed public places nationwide and that he would not allow ‘smoking rooms’.
Smoking would be allowed on the street, but not within 50 meters of establishments where it was banned.
