    JT Introduces ‘Purple Dusk’ for Ploom AURA

    JT released the fourth offering in its limited color series for the Ploom AURA today (January 13), introducing “Purple Dusk.” It joins “Amber Haze,” “Bronze Royal,” and “Aqua Green.”

    Regarding Purple Dusk, JT says, “the deep colors reminiscent of the night scene and the accented patterned front panel create a mysterious atmosphere and presence. It contains the desire to be close to the moment to enjoy the night in your own way and to encourage the time you spend with your sensibility.”

    A limited quantity is available in Japan for pre-sale at CLUB JT online shop and Ploom Shop for 2,980 yen ($18.77). It will be available at convenience stores and some tobacco stores beginning January 20.

    JT Launches EVO Honey Lemon for Ploom

    Japan Tobacco (JT) introduced the EVO Honey Lemon Crystal, a new flavored smoke stick for its Ploom heated tobacco brand, that will be available in Japan beginning today (December 16) through the CLUB JT online shop and Ploom Shops, followed by a nationwide rollout in convenience stores and tobacco retailers on January 16, 2026.

    The EVO Honey Lemon Crystal “combines lemon-flavored capsules with honey sweetness to offer a balanced, dual-profile sensory experience.” It is compatible with all Ploom devices, sold in packs of 20 sticks at a retail price of JPY 550 ($3.70).

    The launch follows recent additions to the Ploom EVO lineup, including Evo Black Menthol and Evo Fresh Mint (released December 1) and a formula upgrade for Evo Cold Menthol in November, expanding the EVO mint range. JT’s Ploom smoke stick portfolio now totals 27 variants, catering to diverse flavor preferences in Japan’s heated tobacco market.

    Altria Reports Q3 Results, Narrows 2025 Guidance

    Altria Group, Inc. reported third-quarter 2025 net revenues of $6.1 billion, down 3% year-on-year, while adjusted diluted EPS rose 3.6% to $1.45. The company reaffirmed its resilience in core tobacco and smoke-free products and announced an expansion of its share repurchase program from $1 billion to $2 billion, set to run through 2026.

    CEO Billy Gifford highlighted “exciting progress” across Altria’s portfolio, including the U.S. launch of on! PLUS nicotine pouches, regulatory submissions for Ploom heated tobacco, and a strategic collaboration with KT&G to pursue international and non-nicotine growth opportunities. The company also marked its 60th dividend increase in 56 years, underscoring its continued focus on shareholder returns.

    Altria narrowed its full-year 2025 adjusted EPS guidance to a range of $5.37–$5.45, representing 3.5%–5.0% growth from 2024. Management said it expects performance to moderate in Q4 as it laps prior share reductions and continues to invest in its smoke-free strategy amid a dynamic regulatory environment.

    Japan Tobacco International launched its latest heated tobacco device, Ploom AURA, in Romania, offering adult consumers a modern and premium experience. The device features “SMART HEATFLOW technology, which preserves authentic tobacco flavors without combustion or smoke, while its sleek, curved design ensures ease of use and a sophisticated look.” Sobranie refills with CleanSeal technology complement the device, preventing tobacco leakage and enhancing the overall experience.

    Marian Zamfir, Marketing Director for JTI Romania, Moldova, and Bulgaria, said the device meets three essential consumer needs: taste, experience, and style, saying, “Ploom AURA was designed for adult consumers seeking solutions that align with their lifestyle and evolving preferences.” The launch follows JTI’s entry into Romania’s heated tobacco market in 2023 with the Ploom X device.

    Alexander Pitchka, General Manager of JTI Romania, Moldova, and Bulgaria, highlighted the company’s long-term vision in the country, citing its success in developing premium brands like Sobranie. He emphasized that the launch reflects JTI’s commitment to sustainability, consumer choice, and innovation.

    Japan Tobacco Inc. launched its next-generation heated-tobacco device today (May 27) in Japan, the Ploom AURA. The device will initially be available in its Ploom stores and CLUB JT online shop. In parallel, JT Group will roll out EVO, its exclusive and premium heated tobacco sticks, “to complement Ploom AURA and provide adult consumers with the latest and most technologically advanced propositions in the heated tobacco segment,” according to the company. A nationwide launch of Ploom AURA and EVO will start on July 1 in convenience stores and tobacco retail shops, and will roll out globally in the near future.

    “In the reduced-risk products [RRP] category, we are focusing on providing adult consumers with quality products, rooted in technology, consumer insights, and experience, and I truly believe Ploom AURA embraces all these aspects and more,” said Takehiko Tsutsui, executive vice president of RRPs.

    JT Group said it will continue to prioritize investments in the heated tobacco sticks segment through 2027, and will be investing 650 billion yen ($4.5 billion) in RRP, much for the Ploom AURA and its launch.

    “The RRP category is reshaping the global tobacco landscape, and I am confident that Ploom AURA and EVO will play key roles in supporting JT Group’s ambition of reaching mid-teens share in the HTS segment by 2028,” said Tsutsui.

    Japan Tobacco International launched its Ploom X Advanced in Italy’s travel retail market at Milan Malpensa Airport.

    Already available in duty-free stores in Japan and Switzerland, the product comes in a variety of device colors, sticks and accessories.

    “I was excited to see JTI’s premium offer in the RRP [reduced-risk product] category taking off in Milan,” said JTI Global Travel Retail Sales Director Simone Mammi in a statement. “Our Ploom X Advanced device has been launched in Italy travel retail, alongside Camel heated-tobacco sticks, available in four flavors and tobacco intensities (gold, bronze, burgundy and teal).”

    JTI noted that with Avolta as one of its longstanding retail partners at Milan Malpensa Airport, it optimized the premium front-of-category space to provide impactful showcasing that, when coupled with ongoing consumer engagement, “should deliver promising results.”

    The Ploom X Advanced device was named the best product available in the heated-tobacco category at the U.K. Product of The Year Awards 2024.

    Japan Tobacco International’ s Ploom X Advanced device has been named the best product available in the heated tobacco category at the U.K. Product of The Year Awards 2024.

    Product of the Year is the U.K.’s largest consumer survey of product innovation. Every year over 10,000 shoppers vote to crown the winning products in each category, giving retailers a picture of what customers think about the products they stock.

    The U.K. heated tobacco category is currently worth £105 million ($133.67 million) in traditional retail and growing 20.5 percent year-on-year.

    Japan Tobacco announced the launch Ploom X Advanced, a new model of heated tobacco device that has evolved in terms of taste and user comfort.

    The company believes the new device will play a significant role in its mid- to long-term business strategy.

    According to JT, the new device represents a significant improvement over the current model and incorporates advanced features, including:

    • An upgraded heating technology, dubbed “Power Heatflow,” which increases the maximum heating temperature from 295 degrees Celsius to 320 degrees Celsius to provide a richer flavor experience.
    • A new automatic heating function that automatically starts heating when a stick is inserted into the device.
    • Reduced charging time from approximately 110 minutes for the current model to approximately 90 minutes.

    The device will be available at convenience stores and tobacco retailers nationwide in Japan starting on Nov. 21, 2023, at a suggested, tax-included retail price of ¥1,980 ($13.22).

    Following the launch of Ploom X Advanced, JT will discontinue sales of the current Ploom X model in Japan.

    Japan Tobacco International is set to launch Ploom, its heated-tobacco product, on the Greek market, according to 2Firsts.

    JTI plans to invest $3 billion in the global expansion of Ploom. Greece is the first planned market for promotion. JTI’s Greece subsidiary will be responsible for the Cyprus and Malta markets as well.

    The company’s goal is to introduce Ploom in 25 countries. JTI also plans to invest €2 billion from 2023 to 2025 for the development of other heated-tobacco products.

    Japan Tobacco is launching a new brand named “With” and a new device named “With 2” for infused tobacco capsules in Japan this summer, the company announced on its website.

    The company will discontinue its Ploom TECH, Ploom TECH + and Ploom TECH + With infused tobacco capsule devices, which are only in Japan. They will be available until stocks are sold out.

    Ploom X, which is a device for heated tobacco sticks, is unaffected by this announcement and will continue to be sold and rolled out in a number of markets including Japan.

    JT says it remains committed to investing in reduced-risk products. The company competes in the heated-tobacco segment with its Ploom brand and participates in the e-cigarette market with its Logic brand.
